Fit For a king. a white row farm coronation afternoon tea

Updated: May 2, 2023

You may have heard; King Charles III's Coronation is happening in London on 6 May, and it's kind of a big deal (and includes an extra bank holiday on 8 May — win!). For those of us not lucky enough to get an invite to the main event, there are plenty of ways to mark the occasion.

Peruse King Charles III's memorabilia, biscuit tins and keep sakes. Order your cakes, picnics, platters of home cooked foods including cheese boards from our Deli, fresh smoked salmon, seafood platters from our Fishmongers and order your free range local meats from our Butchers for your coronation BBQ! ( It's going to be sunny right? )

Our menus from the Cafe & Fish & Chip shop will be available all weekend with some coronation specials popping up! Eat indoors, or enjoy our picnic tables, sit in our outside eatery and bring your well behaved dogs who we LOVE to see.

What White Row delights would the king enjoy with his coronation afternoon tea? Focusing especially on British produce that comes with sustainability, reflecting the king's own ethos.

It's set to be a royal coronation to remember, taking place in the iconic Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May, with The Archbishop of Canterbury conducting the ceremony.Having a coronation afternoon tea in Westminster Abbey is probably the closest most of us will get to the actual, regal shenanigans.

It's the perfect opportunity, in true British spirit, to whip out the best china and have a good old-fashioned celebration!

White Row Sandwiches There are so many different sandwich fillers to choose from it's hard to know where to start. Do you think he would go the obvious route with coronation chicken? Or perhaps the classically British cucumber sandwich. We think he'd be a fan of our roast beef and horseradish sandwich on our fluffy homemade Hobb's House Bakery bread. White Row Savoury Pastries Now, we have it on good authority and straight from the palace kitchen, that there will be a rather special quiche. So our fabulous cooks in the Deli have been hard at work recreating this yummy savoury treat for us all to enjoy. The quiche is a scrumptious combination of tarragon, broad beans and spinach, and won't be around for long as it's a coronation special. So we recommend calling the Deli to reserve your piece of this regal quiche. Call 01373 830702

We also think this very special afternoon tea would include a selection of savoury pastries from our delicious Deli. Our famous sausage roll, perfect scotch egg, stilton and mushroom pasty.. and that's just to name a few. It is his royal highnesses coronation, after all!

Whether it's one of our homemade cupcakes, delicious brownies or mouth-watering cheesecake, we know our Deli counter has us covered. Get the cake stands out, and make use of every tier! After all, how often can we celebrate the coronation of a new monarch? White Row Scones Now we've come to the most celebrated and much-debated item on the afternoon tea menu. The classic scone! What could be a more fitting part of this wonderfully British celebration? Would you go rogue and choose a cheese scone, a raisin one, or even just a deliciously buttery plain one? We think King Charles would choose the quintessentially British classic, plain with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Let's not even go down the route of if he would put the cream or the jam on first though!
